Business records, 1787-1791.

Consists of two volumes relating to the activities of the Pine Grove Furnance. The first volume is a daybook kept from 1788 to 1789. Entries document the output of the furnace, including skillets, plate stoves, "pottware for dutch ovens," castings for griddles, castings for Franklin stoves, and "pottware for window weights." Pork, salt, flour, and other groceries are also mentioned. The last page bears the name of John Arthur, perhaps the keeper of the manuscript. The second volume is a time book kept from 1787 to 1791. Lists in the item include accounts of work done in making a new saw mill in 1789, accounts of work done at the casting house, work done at the kitchen, agreements to work, work in the smith shop, pottware made by potters, and amounts paid for hauling, "coaling," and driving teams. The volume also contains a record of weights of calves and other animals slaughtered at the furnace.
